Finnish Government Collapses....Why It Matters

Don’t look now – seriously, the media really don’t want you to look – but Finland, the “Democratic” Socialists’ most favored nation, their example of the country America should emulate, just saw its government collapse and its Prime Minister and Cabinet resign due to the unsustainable costs of universal health care. This happened last week. Did you hear about it in the news? Didn’t think so.

Finland: Government Collapses Over Universal Health Care Costs, #Bernie2020 Hardest Hit

This comes less than a year after Finland killed its experiment with a “universal basic income,” replacing it with mandatory job training and work requirements for people on government benefits.

There’s more at the link, along with a few ironic tweets from Bernie Sanders, lavishing praise on Finland . In one, he demands, “If Finland can provide everyone with health care, send everyone to college for free and provide affordable child care, why can’t the US ?”

Well, Finland can’t. Neither can you, Bernie.

Incidentally, I just checked Bernie’s two Twitter feeds, for Senator and Presidential candidate. As expected, there was a lot of ranting against billionaires and millionaires (he is one of the latter, by the way, and somehow became one while he was a socialist “public servant,” as so many socialist public servants do), and about completing his mission to transform America with a lot of big government handout programs.

But strangely, not a word about the collapse of the government of Finland due to the exact policies he’s espousing. In fact, I scrolled all the way back to last week, and the word “ Finland ” never appeared – even though that’s obviously what he wants to transform America into. But at least he can take solace in knowing that with people like him in Congress, he’s already made a lot of headway in turning the US into a place where the cost of government is unsustainable.

Folks,

Been a frustrating two months… Between the corrupt Democrats and bat shit crazy media… think all of our nerves are frazzled. And how did it start and what is it about? Lots of questions, lots of answers... and more outrageous hyperbole than a carnival huckster... coming from our media and Swamp dwellers every day

Let’s start from the beginning… the election of Donald Trump as the candidate for the Republican Party for President. Now I’m gonna admit.. he was not my choice, I was a Ted Cruz guy. Didn’t like his New York attitude, braggadocio style or even his hair. But after all was said and done, I did like what he was saying, even if I didn’t think he had a ghost of a chance of being elected against the Clinton Machine. I also had some inner caution, that he might turn out like most of modern Republican candidates for president… they spoke conservative speak and then turned around and governed as "Democrat Lites”. I’m referring to the Bush’s. Neither Bush was a real conservative… neither governed as a conservative. Senior rode in on Reagan’s coattails… Bush II was fortunate enough to have an opponent even a mother would find hard to love… a real plastic man. Democratic Party version of Richard Nixon. And then we had John McCain… I must admit a personal bias as I knew McCain was a very flawed and despicable human being from personal experience. The media painted him out to be a war hero… I and many others considered him a survivor, nothing more. From personal knowledge, I knew that wherever John McCain’s boat floated… a wake of discontent followed. He was the ultimate narcissistic manipulator... and a misogynist to boot. He was loyal to no one, other than his own ego. John McCain did more damage to the Republican Party than anyone I can think of outside of Nixon. He had more skeletons in his closet than a mortuary. He was the Anti-Republican, Republican. The Democrats knew it all, but held their fire because he was such a weak candidate and were aware they could count on him for support after the election.

Then we got Mitt… Liberal Governor of the most Liberal State in the Union at the time (at least until California went full tilt bozo). And to add insult to injury, the phony was the “Godfather” of socialized medicine in this country when he instituted it in his own state. And somehow the media and the swamp dwellers managed to convince enough Republicans that he was supposedly “conservative” and he got the nomination. In the debates he showed his true colors… and everything Obama espoused… Mitt was right there to yell… “Me too”! Our candidate was nothing but a Democrat Lite. Thank God he didn’t win, we might not have ever had another Republican President again. If a Republican had governed the way Obama did, the public would have been far less tolerant… but basically that’s what Mitt promised to do. Obama was a con artist… glib, suave, convincing. But beneath that sophisticated veneer beat the heart of an self serving, would be dictator. And frankly, were it not for the color of his skin… Obama would have been a one term President. America gave him a free ride, to salve their conscience. Truth is, had Mitt been elected, he would have failed too. Don’t think Mitt hates America like Obama obviously does… but his political instincts aren’t much better. And so it goes. The greatest line about Mitt Romney I’ve ever heard came from Mike Huckabee when he upset Mitt in Iowa when he ran for the Republican nomination… When asked by the media how he appealed to Republican voters in Iowa over Mitt. Huckabee replied… “I think it was because I reminded the working men and women of someone they worked with at their jobs and liked… Mitt reminded them of someone who had fired them“.

Back to Trump… I truly believe "The Donald" was very fortunate to have Hillary as an opponent. I’ll be blunt about it… I really don’t think America
Initially, wholly embraced Trump; as much as they knew they could not afford the risk... or embrace the thought of electing perhaps the most craven, corrupt, lying and for want of a better word… Bitch… as President of the United States of America.. So they took a flyer on Trump, crossed their fingers and hoped for the best. And what a fortunate bit of serendipity it turned out to be. The SOB actually started doing exactly what he said he was gonna do! OMG… he meant what he had said! Immediately, he took on deregulation that had stifled business, started appointing conservative judges (never under estimate the importance of that… the left has used liberal judges to impose edicts that could never have passed through congress, it’s a major “game changer” for the future). He took on illegal immigration, bad trade deals… on and on. Might not like the way he does it, but I damn sure love the results.

And he did it all while under constant assault from the media, the Democratic Party… the FBI, our intelligence agencies and the corrupt D.C. swamp. No other President in modern American history has been subject of such an all out “Jihad" by those corrupt forces. And yet he stood up to it and went about his work. Gotta hand it to the guy… turned out to be one tough hombre!

Could go on for hours… but want to talk about the basis for the phony impeachment. The Phone Call. How that became to tipping point boggles the mind. To deny that Ukraine was anything other than corrupt, is not worthy of belief. The fact that hundreds of millions of dollars from that small nation, filtered through from the hands of oligarchs to Democratic Party icons (The Clintons, Bidens, Kerry and others) should have been front page news were it not for a complicit media. Much of that money was used to attack Trump and support the corrupt Democratic politicians. When Biden was so brazen to brag about extorting Ukraine into firing a prosecutor that was investigating one of the corrupt oligarchs and his son’s million dollar a year “no show” job… it should have resonated around the country. This was an overt act; a brazen and in your face example of political corruption... on public display! Yet not a peep out of the media, or any indication or interest about the fact that Joe Biden publicly admitted he extorted the government of Ukraine (with our tax payer dollars).

Trump had every right to ask that the new President of Ukraine (who ran as a reformer) to “Do us a favor”… and look into the corruption that had crippled their country. The fact that he included the Biden’s by name sent out shock waves. But why? I mean we have the video of Biden admitting extorting them to fire the prosecutor who was getting too close… it was public knowledge that his son was given a million dollar a year “no show” job by a corrupt oligarch… but somehow the Dems and the media turned it around into an impeachment charge that Trump was trying to destroy a political opponent for personal gain (funny, Sleepy Joe couldn’t even win Iowa, the fact he was a supposed threat to Trump is laughable) . Well, folks… about time someone took on this favored tactic of how Democratic politicians and their families, got rich off selling influence. The Clinton’s perfected it… Joe had always been corrupt, he just didn’t have the brains to keep his mouth shut about it. Joe Biden, his son, his brothers… should all be investigated for public corruption. Oh… and I’m not even going into the Billion Dollar gift from the Communist Chinese to the two sons of Democratic politicians for them to play with… no big deal right?

I wish I could say the media and the Democrats have been taught a lesson… that their lies and BS isn’t selling any more. But I’ve been dealing with these kind of people since my college days… they are relentless, they are corrupt and they are evil. Ain’t gonna happen… they’ll just move on to the next false allegation. This is gonna be a tough year. Buck up Buttercups… gonna be in for a long, hard, ride.

Hey Black… had enough rodeo yet? Whole lotta bucking’ going on!

DR

Hi to all -

Iowa Caucus

This turned into a disaster for the democrats. Seems that no one had enough fingers to count all the delegates and votes. In fact, they did not know how many delegates they had present. And, the special 'app' to tally votes didn't work (shades of Obamacare). So, when results of the first ballot did not turn out like they wanted, they did what they have been trying to do to the country for years - they changed the rules. The rules were made up by the Clinton-Soros arm of the party, and they really, really hate to see Bernie leading the pack. So, they made it more difficult for his people to vote, and easier for their supporters to vote, and changed the results. Pay close attention - they will try to do this same thing for the National elections.

In the early voting, Bernie came out on top, followed by Buttigieg and Warren. Biden did not do very well, at all. So, the deck was reshuffled, to make Pete come out on top, with Bernie second. Gosh, who can we trust to count the elections?

Can you say 'fiasco' boys and girls? Sure you can.

Rush Limbaugh

Yesterday, he announced that he is suffering from advanced lung cancer, and will have to take time off for treatment. Rush is pretty much the Godfather of talk radio, especially of conservative talk radio, which vastly dominates the airwaves over liberal talk radio. Those who agree with Rush, and supported him for these 30 plus years, were heartbroken at the news, and wish him well.

His enemies are gleefully reporting that he got what he deserved. Ever wonder if those nasty people will get what they deserve? Or when?

Mid-East Peace

Trump has offered a plan for peace between the Israeli's and Palestinians. It tilts heavily in favor of Israel. They keep all the land they are now on, as their nation, not as 'occupiers'. The people of Palestine get a portion, not the whole, of Jerusalem as their capital, and autonomy as a state. New settlements are blocked in some areas for Israel. It is a fair, and pretty good deal for all.

Of course, this is not the first such deal that has been offered. In fact, there have been five - yes, five - previous offers, dating from 1948 to now. The Palestinians have rejected each and every one of them, no matter how good it would be for them. Why? Because no deal has given them the one thing they absolutely demand - the destruction of Israel, and extermination or resettlement of the Jewish people. To the Palestinians, the only acceptable terms for peace must include those things. So, as before, they totally rejected this deal. Further, they cut all ties with Israel, and the US. That of course, means they will again resort to violence.

Not that violence ever ended. Even as they talk peace, they continue to fire rockets into Israel, and try to murder people, even civilians, there. Same as always. The hate overpowers all rational thought, all reason, and all efforts at building better relationships and gradual parity with everyone else.

Of course, that is all the surface stuff. To get into real reasons, you must FOLLOW THE MONEY. On his death, Yasser Arafat was one of the most wealthy men on earth. Worth many billions of dollars? How so? He did not produce any goods or services, for the marketplace, like successful businessmen do. Nope. He got rich skimming the 'foreign aid' money coming to the Palestinian cause. And, taxing the locals at massive rates. So what if they live in squalor and poverty? That is the draw that brings in the money. Today's leaders also fear the loss of their cash cow.

Corona Virus

Things seem to be much worse than we thought. Before the government completely locked down WuHan province, hundreds of thousands fled to other areas. Perhaps some of them were infected as well, spreading the virus. The videos sneaked out of the country show total panic among those left behind. Hospitals are totally overwhelmed. The government began building a new 1000 bed isolation hospital - to be completed in less than two weeks! Men in hazmat suits came to the door of those who sent out videos, and took them, along with their computers, phones and other devices, away for 'treatment.' All have disappeared.

China has concentrated in recent years on obtaining total control of its people. More cameras than anyplace on earth. 'Social credit' scores, to make sure everyone toes the line. But, this is beyond their capacity to control. An epidemic like this could rip apart their fragile hold on power. Might even destroy their economy, and place in the world.

Comcast

These folks announced that they lost 750,000 customers last year. Cutting the cable is now an epidemic, for most. Major complaints were endless rising prices, poor customer service, and poor choices. Not to mention the heavy handed manner in which the company does business. Now, when most companies, or families, see their income falling, and rising complaints about service, they generally take the course of cutting costs, improving service, and perhaps offering new and improved product. Not Comcast. Why should they take the hit for their own actions? No, no. They are entitled, like government, to keep all they had, and to add to it. So, what to do, what to do? I know - we will raise prices, to make those who remain liable for the shortfall we have from our failed management. Besides, we have a political agenda to support, and that is really expensive.

Gosh, I wonder how many will cut the cord this year?

Rich

Daily News from Military Periscope for 6 February

USA—Piloted EA-18G Growler Controls Pair Of Uncrewed Jets In Trial Boeing | 02/06/2020 Boeing and the U.S. Navy have successfully flown two EA-18G Growlers autonomously, with a third piloted Growler serving as a mission commander. Four test flights were made as part of Navy Warfare Development Command’s annual fleet experiment exercise, according to a Boeing release on Monday. A total of 21 demonstration missions were completed over the course of those flights. The tests proved the effectiveness of technology that enables the F/A-18F Super Hornet and Growler to conduct combat operations with uncrewed systems, the company said. The demonstration provides data for Boeing and the Navy to use when deciding to make future technology investments, said project officials. Pilots were in the cockpit of both Growlers during the experiments, performing the takeoffs and landings as well as serving as backups in the event of a technical failure, reported Military.com. This is the first indication that the Growler can be operated autonomously. Fighters such as the QF-16 and the QF-4 have been converted into uncrewed aerial vehicles in the past. The technology could be used by the Navy to extend the reach of its sensors and enables a single aircrew to control multiple uncrewed aircraft, noted a Boeing official.

USA—SOCOM Eyes Light Attack Aircraft For Armed Overwatch Requirement Air Force Magazine | 02/06/2020 U.S. Special Operations Command has announced plans to move forward with a program to acquire 75 light attack aircraft, reports Air Force magazine. On Monday, the command announced that it would hold an industry day on March 4 and March 5 for its Armed Overwatch program. SOCOM is looking to acquire crewed, fixed-wing aircraft for use in close air support, precision strike and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions in austere environments, according to the release. The command says it will issue a draft Other Transaction Authority (OTA) prototype demonstration proposal on Feb. 14. OTA provides a process for research and prototype efforts outside of standard contracting procedures,. An eventual contract is expected to run for five years, with an option for two additional years, with an anticipated total of 75 aircraft. The SOCOM program is separate from the Air Force’s light attack experiment, the magazine said.

USA—Experimental Navigation Satellite Passes Preliminary Design Review L3Harris | 02/06/2020 L3Harris has successfully passed the preliminary design review for an experimental navigation satellite it is building for the Air Force, reports the company. The review defined the satellite’s path to delivery and allowed the program to move on to the next phase of development, the firm announced on Wednesday. The Air Force procured the Navigation Technology Satellite-3 (NST-3) as an experimental spacecraft to demonstrate the potential for deploying a layer of smaller navigation satellites in geosynchronous orbit (GEO) to supplement the GPS constellation in medium earth orbit (MEO), noted Space News. The satellite features experimental antennas, flexible and secure signals, increased automation and use of commercial command-and-control assets. If successfully demonstrated, the service plans to integrate the technologies onto the GPS IIIF satellites. The service awarded L3Harris an $84 million contract for the satellite in September 2018. It is scheduled to be launched in 2022. The NST-3 was named a “vanguard program” in November, establishing it as an innovative concept for the development of future space systems. Greece—

Patriot Missile System Headed To Saudi Arabia To Help Protect Critical Infrastructure Kuwait Times | 02/06/2020 The Greek government has decided to deploy Patriot air defense systems to Saudi Arabia as part of a multinational program to protect vital energy infrastructure there, reports the Kuwait Times. A Greek Patriot unit was activated on Jan. 20 ahead of the deployment, a government spokesman said on Feb. 3, as reported by Jane’s Defence Weekly. The Patriots will protect critical energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, promote regional stability and strengthen ties between Greece and Saudi Arabia, the spokesman said. The deployment has been under discussion since October and is part of an initiative with France, the U.K. and U.S. Italy is also expected to join, said the spokesman. Approximately 130 Greek personnel will deploy to Saudi Arabia. The announcement was criticized by Greek opposition parties, who called the move dangerous “adventurism.” The deployment would be the first outside of the Mediterranean in decades, said one lawmaker.

Sweden—Military Preparing For Potential Deployment To Mali Defense Post | 02/06/2020 The Swedish armed forces has begun planning for a potential deployment with a French-led special operations task force in Mali, reports the Defense Post. The contingent is expected to consist of troops and helicopters from special operations units, said a Swedish military release on Wednesday. The Swedish government and Parliament must still approve the mission. The troops would join the French-led Task Force Takuba, a multinational force that is intended to train, advise, assist and accompany local forces fighting Islamic State and Al-Qaida affiliates in the region. About 200 Swedish troops have been deployed in Mali with the U.N.-led MINUSMA peacekeeping operation. Another seven Swedish instructors and staff officers are serving with the European Union training mission there.

Russia—Foreign Ministry Admits Recent Casualties In Syria Moscow Times | 02/06/2020 The Russian Foreign Ministry says that Russian and Turkish "military specialists" were killed in militant attacks in Syria's northwestern Idlib province in late January, reports the Moscow Times. "There has recently been a dangerous increase in tension and a surge of violence in Idlib," the foreign ministry said on Thursday. The fatalities were the result of more than 1,000 rebel attacks in the last two weeks of January. The ministry provided no information on how many troops were killed. The announcement comes as the U.N. Security Council is set to discuss the escalating conflict in Idlib province. A Jan. 12 cease-fire announced by Turkey and Russia has crumbled as Syrian government troops, supported by Russian forces, have continued to advance.

South Korea—SIGINT Aircraft Flies Over Eastern Border Areas Yonhap | 02/06/2020 U.S. signals intelligence aircraft has again been spotted operating over the Korean peninsula, reports the Yonhap news agency (Seoul). On Thursday, an RC-12X Guardrail took off from Osan Air Base and flew over Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces, which border North Korea, according to social media users monitoring airband traffic. This is the first time this year that a Guardrail has flown a mission in South Korea with its identification system activated. Multiple intelligence aircraft have conducted flights over the peninsula since talks with the North Korean regime collapsed last year. The 8th Army of U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) is known to operate at least five Guardrails. The move comes two days before North Korea is expected to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of its founding, which involves military parades and, frequently, weapons tests.

Australia—Army Selects Israeli Anti-Tank Missile For Direct-Fire Support Requirement Australian Dept. Of Defense | 02/06/2020 The Australian army has chosen the Israeli Spike LR2 anti-tank missile for its Long-Range Direct-Fire Support Weapon requirement, reports the Australian Dept. of Defense. The weapon will be issued to dismounted infantry teams to better engage armored threats, the department said in a release on Wednesday. The Spike LR2 was previously selected to arm the Boxer 8 x 8 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRVs) being procured by the Australian army under its Land 400 Phase 2 project. The selection of the same missile for the infantry and armored vehicles will allow the army to better train personnel as well as sustain and maintain the missiles, noted Lt. Gen. Rick Burr, the army chief.

On Wednesday, a joint police and military force went to serve an arrest warrant for Manuel Gilo in Bancasi, Butuan City, said security sources. During the arrest, the suspect opened fire. He was subsequently killed in a brief shootout, said a military spokesman quoted by the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Gilo was believed to be a high-ranking finance and intelligence officer for the southern command of the New People’s Army (NPA). Police said that he may have been involved in the killing of an indigenous anti-communist leader and a mayor in the southern city of Agusan del Sur Loreto. Police recovered a pistol, some ammunition and personnel effects from the site.

Maldives—ISIS-Affiliate Claims Stabbing That Injures 3 Guardian | 02/06/2020 Three people have been injured in a stabbing in Maldives, reports the Guardian (U.K.). On Tuesday, a knife-wielding man attacked two Chinese citizens and an Australian in Hulhimale, an island near the capital, Male, said police. The injuries were described as not serious. Three people were arrested on Thursday in connection with the crime, said local police. In a video, a local extremist group affiliated with ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, reported Reuters. It accused the government of being run by infidels and threatened more attacks designed to hurt the tourism industry in Maldives. The island country in the Arabian Sea is said to be one of the highest per-capita sources of foreign fighters that have joined ISIS and other extremist groups.

United Arab Emirates—Secret Talks With Israeli, U.S. Officials Focus On Iran Axios | 02/06/2020 A senior United Arab Emirates official attended a secret meeting with Israeli and American representatives in the U.S. last year to discuss Iran, reports Axios. The Dec. 17 meeting included the U.A.E. ambassador to the U.S., Yousef al-Otaiba, Israeli National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabaat, U.S. National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien, U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser Victoria Coates and U.S. special envoy for Iran Brian Hook. The agenda included coordinating Iran policy and a potential non-aggression pact between Israel and the U.A.E., which could ultimately lead toward normalized relations, noted the Times of Israel. The meeting was supported by the Trump administration and follows efforts by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to craft an alliance with the U.A.E. against Iran. A breakthrough in that effort reportedly came in February last year during a U.S.-led anti-Iran conference in Warsaw, Poland, attended by all three parties. At the time, the participants reportedly agreed to establish a trilateral forum to strengthen their cooperation in countering Iran. At least three meetings were subsequently held in 2019.

Qatar—Agreement With Fincantieri Points Toward Potential Sub Purchase Forbes | 02/06/2020 Qatar may be purchasing submarines from Italy, reports Forbes. On Jan. 24, Fincantieri announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Qatari state-owned firm Barzan Holding covering studies of new technologies, potentially leading to the acquisition of new ships as soon as this year. The MoU includes the design, construction and management of a naval base; wholesale warship fleet management; the application of new technology such as digital technology and cybersecurity; and the supply of cutting-edge naval vessels and submarines. A submarine purchase would make Qatar the second operator of underwater vessels in the Persian Gulf, joining Iran. The procurement may be part of a larger 5 billion euro (US$5.6 billion) deal with Italy that was signed in 2017. That program covered a helicopter carrier, four warships and two patrol boats. Fincantieri currently produces the Salvatore Todaro-class subs, which was designed in cooperation with Germany, and offers the S1000 design, which it designed in a joint venture with the Russian Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering. The Qatari boats may be of a smaller design, due to the shallow waters of the Persian Gulf, said analysts.

Saudi Arabia—Riyadh Makes Initial Payment On LAV Deal Radio Canada International | 02/06/2020 Saudi Arabia made the first payment on Can$3.4 billion (US$2.6 billion) in back payments for light armored vehicles produced by General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada, reports Radio Canada International. General Dynamics received Can$665 million (US$500.7 million) in January, with a second payment of similar value anticipated later this year, a company official revealed during an earnings call on Jan. 29. Saudi Arabia purchased hundreds of LAV 6.0s in armored personnel carrier, infantry fighting vehicle, anti-tank and mortar configurations for Can$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) in 2016. As many as 200 vehicles from the estimated order for 700 LAVs may have been handed over, according to a report by Defense News in November. Riyadh has been slow to transfer funds for the purchase amid a diplomatic spat with Canada over Saudi Arabia's human-rights record. In October, it was revealed that Saudi Arabia was Can$3.4 billion (US$2.6 billion) behind in payments. The payment delays caused concern in Ottawa, because the deal was through the Canadian Commercial Corp., with General Dynamics serving as a subcontractor. As a result, Ottawa was ultimately responsible for paying General Dynamics for the vehicles. Payments are expected to get back on track for vehicles delivered starting in 2021, General Dynamics officials said.

Yemen—Civilians Die In Ballistic Missile Strike In North The National | 02/06/2020 Several civilians have been killed in a suspected Houthi missile attack in the northern Yemeni city of Marib, reports the National (Abu Dhabi).
