IF IT IS A NEW UNIT BE SURE TO DO AN UPDATE AS PER INSTRUCTIONS
AND THAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY ADD THE DIGITAL KEY
IF IT IS LESS THAN NEW AND YOU GET A MESSAGE THAT IT WILL EXPIRE AND NEEDS TO BE ACTIVATED THEN FOLLOW THE NEXT INSTRUCTIONS
Ron Ernie
I ran into the issue after buying a brand new $1300 laptop from
Best Buy.
About 3 months after the purchase I would get a prompt saying windows
was about to expire and I either needed to enter my product key or
purchase a product key.
Since Microsoft no longer prints the product key on the machine it is
physically on the motherboard or in the software itself. I found that if you open up your command prompt
(type "cmd" on your search bar)
Paste this ---> powershell "(Get-WmiObject -query ‘select * from
SoftwareLicensingService’).OA3xOriginalProductKey") <---
It will show you internally what your Windows 10 product key is and then
you can just go to the search bar and type activation settings
Then enter a product key and then just type in the key you got from the
command prompt and VoilĂ ! it'll activate and you will no longer get the
prompt!!!
